I once ate a bison burger in a tavern in Fairbanks, Alaska. I sat in a wooden booth under a poster board school project done by the bar owner’s 11 year-old daughter for Black History Month. It featured a great colored pencil kid-drawing version of this very photograph with the kid’s own beautiful words carefully printed in ball-point pen underneath: “Hi there everybody. My name is Harriet Tubman. I got free from slavery. But then I missed my friends. So I went back and got them.”
